Some lights stay with us.
Fireflies become part of childhood summers, family stories, and the places we remember long after the evening itself is gone.
Find the Fireflies exists to help people slow down, notice what is still around them, understand what fireflies need, and make a little more room for those living lights.

Working toward statewide recognition
Louisiana Lightning Bug Day
We’re working with Louisiana lawmakers to establish the second Saturday in July as Louisiana Lightning Bug Day—a time to notice the lights, learn what fireflies need, and encourage practical stewardship across Louisiana.
Whether you call them lightning bugs or fireflies, these living lights are part of Louisiana summers, family memories, and the landscapes we share.
The idea is simple: leave a little room for darkness, wild edges, damp places, leaf litter, and the small lives sharing our communities.
